Why are we dishonest when we get into a situation and want to save face? Why do we misrepresent reality? It is sometimes so hard to tell the truth. Does it matter?
In the garden of Eden, the enemy of God misrepresented truth when he tempted Adam and Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit. Jesus himself said that Satan is the father of lies. Since the whole world is in spiritual darkness and we are all influenced by this power, we tend to misrepresent the truth. Satan knows that if he can influence us toward a lifestyle of lying, he can cause us to be in the lake of fire with him someday. The best way to be truthful in a dishonest and darkening world, is to follow the Truth. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” So, we can learn to know the Truth by following and learning from Jesus.
