Abandon Lust. Choose Life in Jesus.

Why do we long for the forbidden? Why does our lust draw us into sensual and illicit relationships? For everyone, lust is a sin that begins in the mind, but for some, it often expresses itself in fornication, adultery, pornography, and homosexual engagement. Does it matter?

Everything matters. Our desires and thoughts shape who we become and what our community becomes. Desires are instilled within us by God, but since we have sinned and are selfish, those desires become distorted. The scripture says, “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” James 1:14,15

Lust begins in our thoughts, and if dwelt upon and enjoyed, it becomes a sin in the mind. If not cleansed from the mind, lust can lead to mental bondage and physical trauma. Only Jesus can cleanse our minds from lustful thoughts. Read the Gospel of Matthew in the Bible as you journey to find a holy life in Jesus.
