Abandon Greed. Choose Life in Jesus.

Did you ever wish you had more? Just one more sweater. One more tool you saw in the ad? A newer car? The next farm? Why do we wish for more than we have or need? Why do we accumulate with greed instead of lavishly give?

Watch young children and you can see that each one wants the biggest and the best toy for themselves, even when they have a perfectly good toy in their hands. It seems that everyone naturally has an inordinate desire for the most attention, the biggest cookie, the latest iPhone, the biggest house, and the list goes on ad infinitum.

A reporter once asked John D. Rockefeller, the first ever American billionaire, “How much money is enough?” He responded, “Just a little bit more.” The truth is that regardless of how much we accumulate, we will never be satisfied.

The scripture says we should not be greedy but instead, “be content with such things as ye have.” Read the Gospel of Matthew as you journey from a person of greed to a person of kindness and sharing. Choose life in Jesus.
