A Commitment of Faith

Read: Psalm 116. “For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.” Psalm 116:8 Are you praising God today?

A Church with Parkinson’s

People with Parkinson’s face much frustration as the disease progresses. The body no longer obeys the head. Did you know churches can have Parkinson’s symptoms as well? This becomes evident when members stop obeying the commands of their head, Jesus Christ.

A Rebel Soul Faces the Judge

A soul in rebellion against Christ stands before the Christ he has denied. He has died in rebellion and has already bowed prostrate before Christ, and now in disbelief hears himself acknowledge this same Christ as Lord.

The Ultimate Question

Do I love God? Our eternal destiny hangs on this question. But HOW can we love God? We’ve never seen Him so how can we love Him?

No Water, No Oil, No Kiss

…our eternal destiny depends on who we love. We cannot be devoted to Christ while giving place to the devil. What does real devotion to Christ look like?

One of the Least of These

Christ expects us to do so. He fully expects us to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, take in strangers, clothe the naked, visit the sick, and go to those in prison.

Know Yourself

We seem to know more good things about ourselves than bad things, but we seem to know more bad things about others than we know of their good things. I wonder why that is?

True and Living Praise

Our devotion and love for God and for His Son Jesus Christ should draw us to the expression of a living praise. Praise issues forth from a satisfied and contented heart. Ponder a few things with me from this text that are truly thrilling for the child of God and that cause us to praise Him.

In the Light of Eternity

There is more to life than this shadow land. Without an eternal perspective, our faith is often driven dangerously close to the edge of despair. With gladness, I introduce you to Jesus Christ.

The Art of Losing

We love to think that life is all about winning. But what about the verse above that alludes to losing? To suffer loss is as common to life as winning. Christ wants to teach us the art of losing.

Wounded in the House of Friends

Many times, when adversity comes to us as Christians, we feel like we have been let down by God. We possibly struggle to accept what has happened to us and we may even lash out at God.

The Significance of Testing

The book of Job is about a man who faced a very peculiar series of tests all at once. He faced the loss of all his possessions and his family, and finally his health.

Angels – Ministers of God

It is a wondrous thought that angels attend and minister to our needs as Christians. I like to think that there is one who has my needs at heart, and who protects me from evil and harm.

In Thy Faithfulness

Do we believe that God’s judgments are right? That is essential if we will understand this morning’s verse. It will help us to appreciate the faithfulness of God. But how is God’s faithfulness expressed through affliction? We need to contemplate the power of this truth in order to see affliction in true perspective.

Do I Value the Church?

Jesus died to purchase the Church.  His blood redeemed the soul of every believing, faithful person.  This was God’s plan and design, created for His glory.  Christ values the Church highly.  Do you?

Despising the Spirit

When we despise the Holy Spirit, we despise the grace of God.  We despise the very outstretched hand of God.  We despise the very Spirit of God that He has sent to draw us to Himself.  To speak against the Son, Jesus Christ, can be forgiven, but to blaspheme the Holy Spirit, that shall not be forgiven (Luke 12:8-10).

The Kingdom Is Now

Christ taught Nicodemus in John 3 that the entrance to the kingdom of God is the new birth. Repentance was necessary for every one who came believing. Salvation was freely offered by grace through faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross. From this foundation, man now perceives the kingdom of God.

Sunbeams

“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.” Philippians 2:15
