True and Living Praise

September 18 2018

Good Morning Fellow Travelers,

Read: Romans 8:24-39

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Our devotion and love for God and for His Son Jesus Christ should draw us to the expression of a living praise. Praise issues forth from a satisfied and contented heart. Ponder a few things with me from this text that are truly thrilling for the child of God and that cause us to praise Him.

Verse 28 tells us some things that we can know. We can know that all the things in our lives whether good or bad work together for good. God knows what He is doing. Be sure of it! Is it sickness? Is it financial reverses? Is it relational difficulty? God uses all things for our good if we love Him and recognize that we are called of Him according to His divine purpose. Take time right now to thank Him that you are in prison. Thank Him and praise Him for your terminal illness. Bless Him for drawing you closer to Him through burning the house down. While God does not do bad things, it is evident that He allows them for His own purpose. Be thankful that He cares for you enough to chasten you.

Praise Him for the confirmation of victory. Verse 37 confirms that we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. To conquer the sin nature through the blood of Christ is one thing, but it is another thing to have the assurance that nothing can separate us from that love of God that claims it in the first place. If you are living the overcoming life, take the time right now through a true and living praise, to thank Him and praise Him for victory and assurance.

Victory and assurance leads us to a living hope (verses 24-25). Praise is living and true when we claim the promises of verses 38-39. Come now and kneel before God in praise to Him who has secured all of this for us! Amen!
