“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36 NKJV)
Will you go to heaven or hell when you die?
We get a lot of calls from people, wondering if we can answer this question for them. But, every person needs to answer this question for himself. The choice is yours, and no one can decide for you. The answer to this question hinges on your decision to either accept or reject Jesus. According to the verse given above, this is what counts.
Some people think that living a good life will allow them to go to heaven. But good works cannot save you (see Titus 3:4-7). However, if you repent of your sins, turn your life over to Jesus, and allow Him to direct you in every area, then you can be sure that God will welcome you into heaven.
Many people assume that there is no life after death, but God says there is. In Hebrews 9:27, He tells us that “it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” God will make no exceptions to this. The Bible tells us, “we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:10 NKJV)
God does not want you to die in sin or in unbelief. He has done everything He can to make it possible for you to go to heaven when you die. He doesn’t want anyone to perish (see 2 Peter 3:9). Even in the Old Testament, God told the Jews that He did not take any pleasure in the death of the wicked (see Ezekiel 33:11 NKJV).
If you aren’t living for God today, you can still choose life and call on Jesus. Read His invitation in Matthew 11:28-30. If you commit your heart and soul to Jesus and believe on Him, you will enjoy eternal happiness when you die. But the choice is yours. You will never be able to blame God or anyone else if you miss heaven.
