Walking with God

Read: Genesis 5:1-27

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

The world does not need quicker answers, better technology, faster cars, or time saving devices. It does not need more intelligence or education. What the world needs is more men and women who walk with God.

A person who walks with God is a person of faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God. God has created us with an awareness of Himself and enough evidence for us to draw near to Him. Our walk with God is motivated by our desire for truth and our faith in reality.

One aspect of a person who walks with God is that they worship God. God fills their mind and waking hours and is always on the tip of their tongue.

A truth about what we worship is that we become like that which we worship. We become like those with whom we spend time. Anyone in close proximity to a person who walks with God will soon know that he or she is a worshiper of God.

Someone who walks with God pleases God by a life of faith and obedience. True worshippers of God are godly in character and reflect the heart of their Father. It cannot be true that a person who walks with God loves of the world and its system.

A person who walks with God will proclaim truth. In the book of Jude, we read that Enoch spoke out against the sin of his day. He walked it and he talked it. He walked with God. He talked with God. He preached what God revealed to him.

Enoch walked so close to God and pleased God that he did not die. God rewarded him by taking him from this life without seeing death.

Leonard Ravenhill said… “Smart men walked on the moon, daring men walked on the ocean floor, but wise men walk with God.” May we seek to please God by our faith, in our worship, and through our obedience. May our highest aim be to walk with God and to please Him.
