The Secret Place

Read: Psalm 91

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. Psalm 55:17

Let our hearts be warmed. Let our love be fired anew as we contemplate the reality of dwelling in the secret place, in the shadow of the Almighty. Here we find our refuge and our fortress in One whom we can trust. Here we find angelic assistance and divine deliverance.

Why is it a secret place? It is secret because we dwell there alone with God. It is also secret because so few find it or even know how to find it. But it can be found, and it can become for each of us a place of daily renewal. In addition, it is secret because it abides in the recesses of our hearts and in the heart of God. It is the bridge to the refuge and fortress of God’s power. It is the bridge of access to the very throne room of God. It is the place that God invites us to enter boldly (Hebrews 10:19-22).

We must find this secret place. How? Begin by finding a quiet, undisturbed place to kneel before God. Enter into His presence, His holiness, by the blood of Jesus. Testify before Him of your faith in that blood, that it has power to wash you and save you. Now worship Christ by thanking Him for the sacrifice of His life that He made for you. Claim the promise that the precious blood of Christ cleanses you. Then hold fast to the profession of your faith without wavering. God is faithful. He does what He has promised.

Come back to this place throughout the day. You will be refreshed as you learn the power of Jesus’ blood for deliverance from the snares of the devil, concealed and attractive though they be. You will be covered by the wings of God. How precious that place will become!
