The King’s Daughter…

Apr 21, 2020

Good Morning Fellow Travelers,

Read: Psalm 45:6-17 and Psalm 144

The king’s daughter is all glorious within; her clothing is of wrought gold. (Psalm 45:13)

There is nothing more beautiful than a young woman who portrays the character of her King. She does not have to possess a striking physical beauty, but rather the beauty of a holy, pure life. Psalm 144 refers to this beauty as a polished corner stone like a palace. Our daughters find their place in the structure of the body of Christ as they portray the glory of their King. This beauty is an inner glory, radiating outward in humility.

Proverbs 31:30 is clear that outward beauty is vain. In fact, physical beauty may be a hindrance to a young woman. But the combination of outward and inner beauty is truly beautiful. She will be praised if her life reflects the glory of Christ’s holiness! Even those who are less attractive, yet reflect the holiness of Christ, are radiantly beautiful.

Young women like these should grace our churches. We need young women who can bravely stand up for the truth and answer confidently about their hope in Christ. We do not want our daughters to be careless and coarse in nature, for one day they will become the mothers of tomorrow’s leaders.

Young parents, you must begin now. Teach your daughters the fear of God. Teach them the beauty of Christian femininity. Teach them the skills of godly homemaking. Teach them obedience to Christ and His church. Teach them the meaning of true beauty.

Will your daughters be ready to answer when they are asked about their convictions? Polish and prepare them to be corner stones in the palace of Christ.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 9:10)

  1. A few weeks back my 66 year old co-worker friend had mentioned to me he had seen a Mennonite woman in the grocery store. He made mention how pretty she was without make-up. I smiled as I thought about the peace one can show without even realizing it – the way he talked I think this post points out more of what he really saw. With a big smile my friend said that it really made his day.
