Promises, Promises, Promises

Good Morning Fellow Travelers,

Read: II Corinthians 1:12-23

“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”  II Peter 1:4

In Christ, all the promises of God are “yes” and “amen,” unto the glory of God.  That in itself is one of the blessed promises of God.  If we would take the time to list every promise that God made to mankind in His Word, we would marvel at the consolations.  He has promised to meet our needs in many wonderful ways.

Let’s just look at a few.  In Hebrews 6:17-20, we are promised that it is impossible for God to lie, and that gives us a strong consolation.  This is a good place to start.  Every promise He made is true and yes and amen.

Secondly, our text verse says that the means to escape from the corruption of the world’s lust, and also to actually take on the nature of God are contained in the exceeding great and precious promises of God.

The third promise is in John 1:12.  By believing and receiving Christ, we are promised the power to be a son of God.  Even these few promises prove how lavish God is in His grace toward us.  But there are many more.

Let’s look yet at the promises for spiritual filling: “… that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19).  Can your mind comprehend this?  “Being filled with the fruits of righteousness…”  (Philippians 1:11).  “…That ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding”  (Colossians 1:9).

Such promises we have for abundance in Christ!  Let’s just bow our heads right now and admit that our faith has been too small, and thank Him for every promise He made.
