Much Required

May 21, 2019

Good Morning Fellow Travelers,

Read: Matthew 25:14-30

“…For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.” Luke 12:48

We have been given so much. When we take the time to count our blessings and really understand where we come in the worldwide average of wealth and prosperity, we must bow before the Giver. We must bow in recognition of the fact that we have failed. Having been entrusted with so much, we have failed to offer what He requires from us in return. This does not only mean material things, but also spiritual things.

What gifts do we have to share? We have been given the gift of faith. Have we shared that gift with anyone lately? We have been given the gift of the atonement made on Calvary, through the offering of the blood of Christ. Have you shared that gift lately? We have been given through Christ the blessing of the Christian fellowship of believers. Have you invited anyone to share that? We have been given so much love. Will we share it?

It is required. We must give much, for we have received much. We must sharpen our talents, whet the edge of our intellect, grind down the bluntness of our perceptions, and be more keen to open the locks on the coffers of our wealth. Pour it forth in a mighty stream, for that, my friends, is how it has come to you.

The Giver knows what you have, for He gave it. Will you bury that talent in the sand, and refrain from disbursing it? Will you not use it for greater blessing than it would be hidden in the ground? To weigh out the most effective use of our resources for the kingdom of heaven’s sake is more than we can do just by our own wisdom. It takes fervent prayer for Holy Spirit guidance, and then opening the hand with faith that God will use it for His purposes.
